There are multiple formulas utilized for RM (Repetition Maximum) testing, each with its own purpose.
Here is a list:
- Brzycki Formula: 1RM = Weight lifted / (1.0278 - 0.0278 × Number of repetitions)This formula is widely used in strength and conditioning and provides a valuable tool for comparing values between athletes in different sports due to its data-driven approach. We use this one for HITCOACH.
Other formulas exist:
- Epley Formula: 1RM = Weight lifted × (1 + 0.0333 × Number of repetitions)
- Lander Formula: 1RM = (100 × Weight lifted) / (101.3 - 2.67123 × Number of repetitions)
- Lombardi Formula: 1RM = Weight lifted × Number of repetitions ^ 0.10
- O'Connor Formula: 1RM = Weight lifted × (1 + 0.025 × Number of repetitions)
It is important to keep in mind that these formulas rely on statistical correlations and may not be entirely accurate for everyone. It is recommended to perform actual 1RM testing for the most precise determination of an individual's maximum strength capabilities.
